s14 Differential overhaul..

Basic tool. Metric, sockets and wrenches.
Some of the bolts are very hard to brake. use a 1.5feet tube that will fit on your wrench. Ore use a braker bar.
Properly Lift and secure the car with jack stands.

Un bolt the exhaust form the catalytic converter ( everything would be much easier.)

put the car on gear and set the ebrake then loosen the 4 bolts of the driveshaft. 14mm.

The cv axles are bolted to the differential with 3 pairs of 12mm bolts. loosen the ones at reach then have some one put it in neutral in order for you to turn the wheel to gain access to the rest of the bolts.

Disconnect the breather hose at the top part of the differential cover.

Take a jack, lift it and set it just below the differential, then loosen the 2 front bushing bolt 14mm.

Next, loosen the 3 bolts of the differential cover. Remember that the bolt with the ground cable in it has an extra bolt in the same side.

star taking off all the loosen bolts starting with the cv axles, use a pry bar to move the cv axles away from the differential output shafts. Move on to the drive shaft bolts, then the front bushing bolts and let the diff rest on the jack.

This next step is very dangerous so don't be doing any stupid stuff or fooling around while doing the next step.

Be Very careful when you take out the 2 rear differential cover bolts. at this point the differential is floating on the sub frame.
THE DIFFERENTIAL WEIGHTS AROUND 65LBS. NEVER BE BELOW THE DIFFERENTIAL OR IN A POSITION WERE THE DIFFERENTIAL COULD FALL ON YOU BECAUSE IT WILL BRAKE ONE OF YOUR BONES.

CAREFULLY Move the differential forward using a long Pry bar until it sits on your jack complete. lower the jack with the diff in it. slide it out. never lift the diff. WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER.

Clean the area and all the parts and below the vehicle use simple green to clean any oil, gunk, dirt and wash it off with a pressure washer or garden hose.



To install: BE VERY CAREFUL AND LIFT THE DIFF USING A JACK BE VERY CAREFUL HANDLING THE DIFF AND MAKING IT SLIDE ON THE 2 SUB FRAME HOLES. ONCE YOU MANAGE TO SLIDE IT IN TO THE 2 REAR SUB FRAME HOLES, SECURE THE DIFFERENTIAL WITH THE MOUNTING BOLTS. Then follow the instruction in back order.

Make sure to torque all the bolts to FSM specs. and don't be fooling around while handling the differential it can and it will hurt you bad if something goes wrong..
