Let me sway you....

Diablosport doesn't make a Predator for Mitsubishi vehicles.

While other platforms have support from companies in their respective realms, the understanding we have of our cars PCM and the way it operates is vastly beyond the knowledge base and progress of the EVO world. I am not saying that EVO owners and tuners don't know what they are doing, rather, what I am saying is that the SRT forums have become a plethora of knowledge and we have made things as easy as possible.

For example, if you decide to get a larger turbo, injectors, higher reading MAN and TIP sensors, run a fuel other than pump, or decide to alter any one of the many parameters of your cars computer, all this can be accomplished in a simple email. All it takes is an email and a USB cord really.

The support we have from independent tuners on our forums website is unmatched by anywhere I have seen. I have had a bunch of tunes, and for a bunch of different fuels I have chosen to run. No dyno tuning needed, and no guess work.

Our cars make more power per dollar than any other car I have seen. Off the line we don't perform so well, but that's where N2MB comes in and makes a Boost Box. I have one, and it allows you to program boost in each gear.

I could go on and on and on. Untimely its your choice. You should come to the meet...

I will add a thought.... The Evo Scene here in the valley is not very prevalent. So I do not expect many people to "come to bat" for them. Both are respectable cars, and both can perform very well on the stock block. The SRT long block has been proven to about 400fwhp, and the EVO to 500fwhp. Keep in mind, the SRT being a FWD will need gear specific boost control to have control of your launch technique. It is also easily written into the PCM. You will never need an aftermarket computer.

I would go Subaru...reliable mean machine. AWD...plenty of aftermarket support...plenty of information...plenty of used parts from NASIOC and info on them...easy to get power from...(cobb accesport+downpipe= stage 2 + reliable)...you can go to the dudes, snow, the beach...and still kick ass in the street or at a road course...they even double as a family car since you can actually fit four persons in it...subaru scene is growing in the valley. My 2 cents. Big Grin GL

Theres gonna be a few different colored srt4s at the meet so you can know what color to choose...so far theres a red one, white, orange blast and my black one. Theres a yellow one, silver but i dont know if theyll show. Im gonna try and get a maroon one from base to show. I had the same happen to me when i was car shopping. I was shopping for a fOur door tuner and was stuck between an evo 9 and srt4 (japanese vs American). I had the money for either or at the time but i wanted something to mod cheap and not spend a fortune on. I went forum hopping and noticed how segregated the evo community is by all the different forums there was. I hopped on to see srt forums and just a few came up. At the end i chose the srt cuz its cheaper it has a good pedigree, its not ricey sounding and i love being underestimated.

Yeah, off road SRT-4 are few and far between. But there is one that has a few world records.

AWD will allow you to go through sand and mud and snow.

Nef, being underestimated is my favorite part ow owning a Neon Wink

I am sure there is...as for subaru I was just pointing out another option the OP might want to look at. Before my subaru, I was also looking at a SRT-4, but I just could not find one. They are rare for sure. Hope Dodge starts making them again. Smile

There is another SRT-4 in the works. It's a Fiat modeled one.

Where's Chris with the Silver Evo? He probably has good information to post.

Before i got my wrx i wanted either an evo or a wrx. So i looked into a lot of things before buying. An evo has top end speed but the wrx likes using its awd and has more lower end power. Both cars are very reliable and both can make good numbers.

Cons on wrx: engine layout is horizontal(people dont like messing with this set up)
Pros: they are tough as fuck! You beat on it and it will take it.

Cons on evo: you have an extra part in your awd system called the transfer case so they say not all 4 drive shafts are equal so you dont get power to all 4 equally( so they say)
Pros: they are easy to work with( engine wise)

As for the whole pcm thing there are a lot of tuners that do that whole email tune thing an a tatrix usb cord and a laptop. Evo and wrx have it. Its your tunning prefrence. The thing about evo and wrx is that there are specific companies that make an easy to tune comp(i.e. cobb) so you can either get a custom tune( either going to a tuner or email tune) or get a cobb accessport ( which tunes your car to very basic number depending on the parts you have)

And i know i didnt talk about the srt but i just never liked them. I know they are easy to make big HP numbers but the only reason i dont like them is because of the fwd drivetrain. I always say regardless of how much hp you got if you cant keep it on the road then its waisted time and money. Ive seen some big HP srts but like 03srt said about the off the line thing, they just stay there. I think you spend more cash to make your car not spin the tires and in an evo or wrx there is no need for extras. Its just make 300hp and mash the throttle and dont worry about setting certain boost ranges in each gear so you dont spin.

Just my 2 cents

But just get whatever car you can maintain and not just afford right now.

very well said Uly... Yes Nod

ummm an srt was always my first choice.. but i wanted ur guys opinion to confirm my decision!
im not planning to add anything else to the car anymore since its now automatic Sad
my cousin messes up my MTX standard tranny and i couldn't find another replacement but the stock automatic tranny.. Sad

from auto to std. and from std to auto back again Bullshat ain't this a bitch.. Dunno
another plan i was thinking, doing an srt engine & tranny swap..
is it too much work and money?? comfused

my good friend bryant everyone here has given you a lot of good info and pretty much fucking with your mind on what to get. i love my subaru and wouldnt trade it unless it was for an 07 sti, but quoting uly

"just get whatever car you can maintain and not just afford right now"

you can always go cheap on parts and build up you car but after a year your "mods" will be shit. you need good money for a good build on subaru and evo in my opinion. and also its a bitch having to order everything through internet, i can not go to any shop and have parts in hand ( suprising i had to go to 2 auto store to get a oil filter, or maybe just in calex) i also had a lot of problems finding parts for my mitsub. galant when it was my dd.

so id say 1st decide what you want the car for, if you want to go for big hp (500+) or keep it stock id say go for the evo cuz they are sexy as fuck!, but if you want moderate mods and build a tough car i say go for the srt. and you got red03 to help you out he knows his shit just by the threads he post

and to do a motor swap idk man, i have no idea if its worth it on an srt, but "some" cars it is a bitch and expensive, unless it goes right in which is rare, and another thing it is not the same, the out power is not put onto the pavement the same, it has to do with the acutaly driveterain and suspension and this and that, its a lot of little things and a lot of money to acutally get what you want, and it might be cheaper to buy the srt then convert, but im speaking in general not for the srt

Hmmmmm.. Maybe, just maybe man. LMK if you want to delve into it. If its like the T-850 we can do it, I just gotta see a few diagrams first.
